The 25th-ranked (AP) Bruins (4-1, 1-1) remain on the road for a second-straight week to play at California (1-4, 0-2) on Saturday, October 6 in Berkeley, CA. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT, and the game will be televised by the Pac-12 Networks with Ted Robinson and Glenn Parker in the booth and former Bruin linebacker Ryan Nece on the sidelines. The Bruin IMG Radio Network (Chris Roberts, Matt Stevens and Wayne Cook) will radio broadcast the contest on 570am in the Los Angeles area. The game will also be aired nationally on SIRIUS (Ch.S94, XM 193).

The Bruins lead the series, 50-31-1. UCLA earned a 31-14 win in the last meeting, on Oct. 29, 2011, in the Rose Bowl. Derrick Coleman rushed for three touchdowns, and Tevin McDonald picked off three Cal passes in the victory. UCLA scored 17 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 17-7 lead at the break. Cal closed to 17-14, but UCLA turned two McDonald thefts into Coleman scoring runs to pull away. Datone Jones recorded six stops in the game, including two sacks. The two teams last did battle in Berkeley in the 2010 season. UCLA fell behind early and dropped a 35-7 decision to California. Cal scored on its fi rst possession and then took advantage of a Bruin fumble to build a 14-0 lead late in the fi rst quarter on the way to a 28-0 halftime cushion. UCLA had 144 yards of offense in the contest, 26 yards on the ground. Johnathan Franklin led the team with 54 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Kevin Prince completed 13 of 31 passes for 99 yards with one touchdown. Then No. 2-ranked UCLA started slow in the 1998 game at Cal, fumbling on its fi rst two possessions, before righting the ship and taking a 20-9 lead at the half. Cal closed to 20-16 at the end of the third quarter, but could not take the lead thanks to a UCLA goal line stand. A Bruin touchdown on a halfback option pass at the start of the fourth quarter made the score 28-16. Cal never crossed midfi eld again and the Bruins improved to 6-0 on the season. It was the UCLA's 16th straight win at the time.
