PULLMAN, Wash. - First baseman Cody Decker belted his second home run in as many days and right-hander Trevor Bauer (4-3) registered seven strikeouts without issuing any walks to earn the victory and lead the UCLA baseball team past Washington State, 9-5, on Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Bailey-Brayton Field.

Bauer allowed four runs and nine hits in 6.2 innings, allowing UCLA to earn one win against Washington State after having dropped the first two games of the series. Left-hander Gavin Brooks recorded his team-leading third save of the season, limiting the Cougars to one run and three hits in 2.2 innings of relief.

Washington State right-hander Jared Prince (1-3) was tagged with the loss, surrendering seven runs and seven hits in four innings. Prince recorded four strikeouts and no walks for the host Cougars (12-13, 4-2 Pac-10).

Shortstop Niko Gallego had a productive afternoon for the Bruins (11-17, 5-4 Pac-10) going 3-for-4 with two runs and a career-high three RBI. Second baseman Eddie Murray went 3-for-5 with one RBI and Decker went 1-for-3 with two runs and three RBI. Left fielder Gabe Cohen went 2-for-4 with one run.

UCLA got on the board with a two-run homer to left field by Decker in the top of the second. Uribe led off the inning getting hit by a pitch before scoring on Decker's team-leading ninth homer of the season.

The Bruins added five runs - four with two outs - in the top of the fourth. With runners at the corners, Decker reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Uribe to score from third as Weber-Shapiro was forced at second base. A single by Cohen moved Decker to second base. After catcher Gino Aielli was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Gallego brought home two runners with a single to right field. Murray singled to right field, allowing Aielli to score from third. Before Murray was tagged for the third out in a pickle between first and second, Gallego scored from first base, extending UCLA's lead to 7-0.

Washington State answered with a three-run fourth inning. With runners at first and second, third baseman Matt Argyropoulos doubled off the left field wall to send home right fielder Alex Burg. A sacrifice fly to right by center fielder Garry Kuykendall scored catcher Greg Lagreid. Prince singled to left, scoring Argyropoulos.

UCLA added one run in the top of the seventh, pushing its margin to 8-4. Gallego led off the frame with a double to right and moved to third on a single to center by Murray. Center fielder Blair Dunlap's sacrifice fly to right-center allowed Gallego to score from third.

The Cougars added their fifth run with an RBI-groundout by Argyropoulos in the bottom of the ninth.

The Bruins return to action against No. 8 UC Irvine on Tuesday, April 7. Game time at UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium is slated for 6 p.m. Admission costs two dollars for adults and children at Tuesday's game, as part of the Bruins' ongoing "Two-Dollar Tuesday" Program.
