Fifth-Ranked Bruins Down No. 19 Huskies, 6-1 in Women's Tennis

LOS ANGELES - One day after beating Washington State, the No. 5 UCLA women's tennis team completed its weekend sweep of the Washington schools on Saturday, posting a 6-1 victory over No. 19 Washington at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

UCLA's fifth-ranked doubles team of Andrea Remynse and Yasmin Schnack put together one of their best performances of the season on Saturday, registering an 8-0 victory over 11th-ranked Joyce Ardies and Denise Dy at court No. 1. Remynse and Schnack up their record to 27-5 overall and 15-1 in dual matches. The Bruins also recorded a pair of 8-4 decisions at the other two courts to sweep doubles play and take a 1-0 lead into singles action.

Freshman Pamela Montez and junior Maya Johansson each posted straight-set wins to remain perfect in dual-match play on the season. Johansson, who is now 14-0, didn't lose a game on the day, beating Aleksandra Malovic, 6-0, 6-0 at court No. 6. Montez, who is 13-0 in dual matches, beat Samantha Smith, 6-1, 6-4 at court No. 4.

In a battle between top 20 opponents at court No. 1, UCLA's fourth-ranked Schnack beat No. 15 Venise Chan, 6-3, 6-4.

UCLA (16-2; 3-0 Pac-10) continues Pac-10 play next Friday at No. 10 Cal.
