SEATTLE, Wash. - Friday's contest between fifth-ranked UCLA and top-ranked Washington has been suspended due to rain with the game tied at one at the end of three innings. The contest will resume on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., with the finale of the three-game series starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
Gametracker and live audio will be available for both contests at UCLABruins.com.
The teams endured two rain delays, a 35-minute delay at the end of the first inning and a 29-minute stoppage at the end of the third before play was halted for the evening.
UCLA had the first scoring chance of the game in the top of the second. With one out, senior Kaila Shull singled to the second base bag and sophomore Marti Reed walked, with both moving into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by freshman Devon Lindvall. But Washington pitcher Danielle Lawrie retired freshman B.B. Bates on a groundout to short to end the inning.
The Bruins scored the game's initial run on the first pitch of the top of the third when sophomore Samantha Camuso launched her seventh home run of the season to left to make it 1-0.
The Huskies evened it with a run in the bottom of the third. Amanda Fleischman drew a leadoff walk, stole second and moved to third on a throwing error. Jenn Salling then tied it with a sacrifice fly to left to make it 1-1.
Junior Donna Kerr started and allowed an unearned run, one hit and three walks in three innings with one strikeout.
