Thompson & Storm Highlight Bruin Women At Stanford Invitational

Turquoise Thompson and Ida Storm highlighted the women's track and field team on Friday at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto as both placed third in their respective evetns.

Storm made her Bruin debut in the hammer with a solid opening throw of 197-4, a mark which will rank in the top 10 in the NCAA so far this season. Thompson was third in the 400m with a time of 53.41.

Also in the 400m, Joy Eaton was sixth with a season-best time of 54.06 and Ashlea McLaughlin was seventh (54.28).

In other events, Kelcie Wiemann was 24th in the second section of the 10,000 (35:30.68). Shannon Murakami finished 14th in section two of the 5000m (16:54.18). Allie Lopez was 11th in section four of the 1500m (4:42.17). Tatum Souza jumped a lifetime-best of 18-3 to tie for third in the college section of the long jump. Ke'Nyia Richardson was fifth (18-1), also in the same section. Souza also posted a lifetime-best in the 100m hurdles as she was 29th with a time of 14.74. Kimmie Conner, also in the same hurdles section as Souza, ran a lifetime-best of 14.79 for 29th overall.

Competition concludes on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational.
