UCLA head softball coach Kelly Inouye-Perez has announced that Kellie Fox has signed a national letter of intent. Fox, a right-handed infielder from San Diego, is concluding her senior season at Mt. Carmel High School.
"Kellie is the top shortstop in the country," Inouye-Perez said. "I look forward to her impacting the lineup immediately both in the field and at the plate. Kellie will be a great addition to the Bruin softball program."
In her junior campaign of 2009, Fox set school records with 10 home runs, 49 runs batted in, a .971 slugging percentage and a .576 on base percentage, adding a .490 batting average, 16 doubles, 45 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. The Valley League Player of the Year was named first-team all-league, all-county, all-section and all-state in helping the Sundevils to their third straight CIF Championship.
Fox has earned all-league, all-county and all-section honors each season. In 2008, she was named to the Under Armour All-American Team. Fox, who is also an all-league soccer player, plays club softball for San Diego Renegades.
