UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel, former UCLA All-America safety and two-time Super Bowl champion James Washington and Bruin coaches and players participated in a free football clinic at Los Angeles Southwest College on Saturday (May 14) morning.
Sponsored by Washington's "Shelter 37" Foundation, "Back to the Basics" was a free one-day football boot camp for youth from grades five through eight(as of Fall '11). Campers were coached by Washington, as well as Bruin coaches and players. The youngsters also received a free T-shirt and a free box lunch.
Shelter 37 sponsors the clinic on an annual basis.
All of the UCLA coaches were at the camp, as well as current players Datone Jones, Kevin McDermott, Kevin Prince, Ricky Marvray, Sheldon Price, Aaron Hester, Johnathan Franklin and Darius Bell. Also on hand were alums Rahim Moore, second-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos and Ricky Manning, an NFL veteran.
