Los Angeles - Senior Michael March of the UCLA men's water polo team earned MPSF All-Tournament Team honors, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) announced Tuesday. March helped lead the Bruins to a third-place finish in last weekend's MPSF Tournament at UC Irvine by scoring five goals in three games.
March, who hails from Newport Coast, Calif., recorded one goal in UCLA's 17-1 rout of Pacific on Friday, before scoring two goals each in an 8-5 loss to California on Saturday and in the Bruins' 9-8 overtime victory against Stanford on Sunday. March scored at least one goal in 10 of UCLA's last 11 matches, including the final seven games.
Joining March on the All-Tournament team are USC's Juan Delgadillo, Thomas Hale and Tommy Corcoran, California's John Mann, Mark Sheredy, Marty Matthies and Spencer Warden, and Stanford's J.J. Garton. Mann earned the tournament's most valuable player award.
The third-ranked UCLA squad finished the season 17-6 overall, picking up third-place finishes in the NorCal and SoCal Tournaments as well as the MPSF Tournament. The Bruins tallied a 6-2 MPSF conference record and finished the season having won seven of their final eight games.
