Mustafa Abdul-Hamid suffered a stress reaction in his right foot in early December. He returned to practice on Dec. 31, but has missed the last six games.

James Keefe practiced for the first time with contact this year on Dec. 4 after having surgery on Aug. 10 to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He saw his first action of the year at Stanford.

Michael Roll reruptured his plantar fascia in his left foot on Dec. 31 and will be out for the next three weeks.

UCLA sports a national ranking of No. 5 in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and Associated Press poll. California is unranked in both polls.

This is the 221st meeting between UCLA and California with the Bruins leading the series 126-94. The Bruins have won two of three meetings with the Bears in each of the last two seasons. UCLA has also won three straight in Berkeley, including a 62-46 victory last year in Haas Pavilion on Jan. 25, 2007. In that meeting, Arron Afflalo scored 20 of his game-high 25 points in the second half to lead the Bruins. Josh Shipp was the only other Bruin in double figures with 12 points. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds, to go along with his four points. Theo Robertson led Cal with 16 points, while Ryan Anderson chipped in 13 points. UCLA, which shot 50.0 percent (25-for-50) from the field, held the Bears to 36.7 percent (18-for-49) from the floor. The Bruins also won the battle of the boards, 36-25. Though the Bruins swept the regular-season matchups, California upset UCLA in the quarterfinals of the Pacific-10 Tournament 76-69 in overtime. Ayinde Ubaka scored eight of his career-high 29 points in the overtime period to lead Cal to the upset.

Several Bruin teams will be wearing special jerseys or patches in 2007-08 to commemorate UCLA being the First to 100 NCAA Championships. The men's basketball team will don the new jerseys that have a different-colored "C" in UCLA. The "C" signifies the Roman numeral for 100.
