Junior outfielder Jeff Gelalich (LaVerne, CA/Bonita HS) of the UCLA baseball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for May 29-June 3.
Gelalich earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the NCAA Los Angeles Regional over the weekend, batting .455 (5-for-11) with two home runs and seven RBI in the Bruins' three-game Regional sweep. Gelalich belted two home runs, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, in UCLA's 13-5 win over Creighton on Sunday night. The junior outfielder was selected No. 57 overall in the supplemental first round of the MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds on Monday evening. He enters the NCAA Super Regional at Jackie Robinson Stadium this weekend with a team-leading .372 batting average and team-best 11 home runs in all 59 games.
This is Gelalich's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
