Three players and Head Coach Carrie Forsyth earned honors from the National Golf Coaches Assn. this week.

Sophomore Stephanie Kono was named an NGCA First-Team All-American and senior Sydnee Michaels and freshman Tiffany Lua were named to the second team. Forsyth, who completed her 11th season on Friday, was named the NGCA's West Region Coach of the Year.

Kono landed on the All-America first team for the second time. Through two seasons, she has averaged 72.0, won three tournaments and has led the Bruins in scoring each year. Later this month, she will join eight other collegians on the U.S. Curtis Cup Team.

Lua, 19, also will join Kono on the Curtis Cup Team. As a first-year player this season, she averaged 73.0 with four Top 10 results. She was the Bruins' top finisher at the NCAA Championship last week, tying for 27th place.

Michaels completed her four-year UCLA career as a two-time All-American and three-time All-Pac-10 selection. This season, she averaged 72.9, a career best. She also won a pair of tournaments in her career.

In 2010, Forsyth guided the Bruins to their 10th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance -- a school record -- and their seventh Top 10 finish in the last eight years. Under her guidance, 14 UCLA players have earned 21 All-America certificates, including 11 first-team plaques.
