Los Angeles, Calif. - Senior defender Shawn Singh has been named to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week for the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 6 as announced by the publication today.
The Bakersfield, Calif. native had a great weekend for the Bruins as UCLA wrapped the 2011 Pac-12 Championship. In Friday afternoon's 2-0 win over Cal, Singh contributed to the Bruins' staunch defense that allowed no shots on goal for the Golden Bears. On Sunday against Stanford, Singh scored a wonderful goal when he bent the ball from 30 yards out to the far post to score his first goal of the year, helping the Bruins defeat the Cardinal 3-0. UCLA has not allowed a goal in their last four games and Singh has played a big part in defense in each of those four shutouts.
With the wins over Cal and Stanford, UCLA won their seventh Pac-12 title and remains undefeated in conference play at 9-0-0 (14-4-1 overall). The Bruins will finish up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 12 against San Diego State at 2 pm down in San Diego, Calif.
