The No. 25 Bruin swimming team had a big day on Friday at the Arena Invite in Long Beach as five NCAA B qualifying times were achieved. Yasi Jahanshahi, Stephanie Christofferson, Noelle Tarazona, the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay team highlighted the Bruins on day two of the meet.
Jahanshahi was the top finisher so far for the Bruins in the meet as she placed sixth in the championship final of the 100 fly with an NCAA B time of 53.73. Christofferson was 17th overall and first in consol 2 as she also swam an NCAA B time of 54.41.
Tarazona won the first consol of the 400 IM with an NCAA B time of 4:15.47. She was also second in consol 2 and 18th overall in the 100 fly with a time of 54.66.
The 800 free relay team of Ting Quah, Bianca Casciari, Anna Senko and Laurence Delisle swam 7:15.99 to finish fourth overall. That mark was an NCAA B qualifier as well. The 200 medley relay team of Emily Andelson, Allison Gargalikis, Jahanshahi and Cynthia Fascella placed fifth overall as they swam an NCAA B time of 1:42.00.
Fascella finished 20th in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.51. In the 100 breast, Emily Weir finished 18th overall with a time of 1:04.49, while Gargalikis was 25th (1:03.40). Andelson led the way in the 100 back with her 13th-place finish in consol 1 (55.21). Andrea Reigel won consol 2 and was 17th overall with a time of 55.92. Senko won the bonus consol with a time of 55.98 (25th overall), while Annie Stefanec was second in the bonus consol with a time of 57.35 (26th overall).
Competition concludes on Saturday for the Bruins as the Arena Invite comes to a close.
