LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's tennis team notched its fourth shutout in five matches on Monday, as the No. 12 Bruins cruised to a 7-0 victory over Rice at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA now takes a perfect 5-0 record into this week's ITA National Team Indoor Championships, beginning on Thursday in Madison, Wisc.
UCLA swept the six singles matches, with every player winning in straight sets. In the only match featuring two ranked singles players, fifth-ranked Yasmin Schnack lost just one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over No. 73 Rebekka Hanle at court No. 1.
Schnack was also vital in helping UCLA secure the doubles point on Monday, as she and teammate Andrea Remynse clinched the point with an 8-6 victory over Julia Chao and Ana Guzman at the No. 1 spot.
The Bruins face No. 6 Miami at 1:30 p.m. (PST) in the first round of the ITA Team Indoors this Thursday. It marks a re-match of last year's NCAA Round of 16, a 4-2 Hurricane win.
