Athens, Ga. - Fourth-seeded Andrea Remynse and Yasmin Schnack rallied for a three-set victory on Friday to advance to the quarterfinals in doubles at the 2010 NCAA Tennis Championships at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
After dropping the first set 6-4, Remynse and Schnack battled back to take the next two sets over Princeton's Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable, winning 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. The Bruin duo improves its record to 39-7 on the season and by reaching the quarterfinals, will earn All-America honors in doubles for the second year in a row. They will meet Miami's Gabriela Mejia and Laura Vallverdu on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (EST).
Junior Noelle Hickey was beaten in the round of 16 of singles on Friday, falling to third-seeded Maria Sanchez of USC, 6-4, 7-6(1). Hickey ends her season 18-9 overall.
The UCLA men's team also concluded play at the NCAA Championships on Friday, as Amit Inbar and Nick Meister fell to top-seeded Henrique Cunha and Reid Carleton of Duke, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. They finish the season with a 21-7 record.
