The UCLA swimming and diving team will travel crosstown on Friday to face rival USC in the final dual meet of the season. The Bruins are 4-4 (2-4 Pac-10), while the Trojans stand at 5-1 (4-1 Pac-10). Five Lexus Gauntlet points will be up for grabs to the winner of the meet. USC holds a slim five point lead over the Bruins in the overall point standings (30-25).
Last season, USC edged out the Bruins 158-142 in Westwood, but UCLA took down the Trojans on their home turf in 2007, 152-148. The matchup between the two schools almost always comes down to the final relay, and this weekend, the Bruins will again look to bring their "A" game to the pool.
Events begin at 12:00 pm with the 1M and 3M diving competition. Swimming events will begin at 1:00 pm. The meet is held at the McDonald's Swim Stadium on the campus of USC.
With the completion of this meet, the Bruins will then turn their focus to the post-season. The Pac-10 Championships will be held in Federal Way, WA February 25-28, followed by the NCAA Zone E Championships March 12-14 in Austin, TX. The NCAA Championships will be held March 19-21 in College Station, TX to wrap up the 2008-2009 season.
