Junior Matthew Reuter stands in seventh-place after day one of the Pac-10 Decathlon Championships in Tempe, AZ as he posted a lifetime-best day one score of 3446 points.
Reuter started the day off on a high note in the 100m as he ran a lifetime-best 11.44 for the seventh-place time of the day (765 pts.). He was ninth in the long jump with a mark of 20-5.75 (639 pts.) and then posted a lifetime-best 38-7.75 in the shot put for the sixth-best mark of the day (593 pts.). In the high jump, Reuter cleared 6-3.50 for 731 points as he tied for fourth in the event and then ended the day with a sixth-place 400m run of 52.15 (718 pts.).
Oregon's Ashton Eaton leads all competitors with 4069 points. The decathlon wraps up on Saturday with the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500m.
