Junior punter Aaron Perez has been named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week after a strong game against BYU over the weekend. Oregon's Dennis Dixon (offensive) and Washington's Roy Lewis (defensive) share the weekly honors with Perez. It is the second consecutive week that a Bruin has been honored by the Pac-10 as Ben Olson was named the Offensive Player of the Week after the Stanford game.

Perez played a key role in UCLA's 27-17 win against BYU by averaging 44.0 yards on eight punts and pinning the Cougars inside their own 20 yard line on six of the boots. He currently leads the Pac-10 in punting with a 44.8-yard average.

Others nominated for offensive player of the week honors were quarterbacks Willie Tuitama of Arizona and Alex Brink of Washington State and wide receivers Mike Jones of Arizona State and Marcel Reece of Washington. Also nominated on defense were linebackers Anthony Felder of California, Robert James of Arizona State and Greg Trent of Washington State, cornerback Walter Thurmond III of Oregon and end Bruce Davis of UCLA. Antoine Cason of Arizona and Chris Stevens of Washington were nominated for special teams play.
