Each week, uclabruins.com will update and highlight select UCLA players' progress during the current MLS season. Games highlighted are from May 7-13. The Bruins lead all universities with 23 alumni in MLS.

Tony Beltran (Real Salt Lake; Years played at UCLA: 2006-07)
Beltran helped Real Salt Lake earn back-to-back shutouts this week as Salt Lake drew 0-0 with Chicago on Wednesday and defeated Seattle 1-0 on Saturday. On Wednesday, Beltran started and played all 90 minutes in defense and helped allow the Fire just two shots on target as Salt Lake earned their fourth shutout of the year. He then started and played all 90 minutes once again in Real Salt Lake's 1-0 road win over Seattle Sounders FC. Beltran and the rest of the Salt Lake defense were even better on Saturday, holding to Seattle to no shots on goal and just eight shots total to give Salt Lake their second straight shutout of an opponent. He has started all 13 of Real Salt Lake's matches this season and helped propel them to the top of the Western Conference standings with last week's wins.

Beltran's 2012 MLS season stats: 13GP/13GS, 1154 minutes, 2 assists, 5 shots, 2 SOG

David Estrada (Seattle Sounders FC; Years played at UCLA: 2006-09)
David Estrada started and played 66 minutes in Seattle's 2-0 victory over FC Dallas on Wednesday. Estrada was subbed off in the 66th minute for Cordell Cato and did not record an offensive statistic in his 66 minutes of play. Estrada then started once again and played 58 minutes in the Sounders' 1-0 loss to Real Salt Lake on Saturday. He was subbed off for Alvaro Fernandez in the 58th minute and again did not record an offensive statistic. Estrada leads Seattle with four goals this season and has started in all 10 of their matches.
Sounders record: 7-2-1, 22 points, 3rd place in Western Conference

Benny Feilhaber (New England Revolution; Years played at UCLA: 2003-04)
Feilhaber started and played all 90 minutes at midfielder in the Revolution's 4-1 home win over Vancouver on Saturday. He continued to play well since returning for injury, as he recorded four shots (one on goal) in New England's win and constantly created offensive chances with his passing. Feilhaber also made his presence felt on defense as he helped limit the Whitecaps' chances.
Revolution record: 4-6, 12 points, 5th place in Eastern Conference

Feilhaber's 2012 MLS season stats: 7GP/5GS, 501 minutes, 16 shots, 6 SOG

Kevin Hartman (FC Dallas; Years played at UCLA: 1995-96)
Hartman made one save in FC Dallas' 2-0 home loss to Seattle on Wednesday. Hartman faced 11 total shots from the Sounders and pushed his save total to 31 on the year. He also has one shutout thus far.
FC Dallas record: 3-6-3, 12 points, 6th place in Western Conference

Hartman's 2012 MLS season stats: 8GP/8GS, 720 minutes, 31 saves, 13 GA, 1.63 GAA

Jordan Harvey (Vancouver Whitecaps FC; Years played at UCLA: 2002-05)
Harvey started and played all 90 minutes in defense as Vancouver fell to New England 4-1 on Saturday. Harvey recorded one shot in the match as he earned his sixth start of the year for the Whitecaps.
Whitecaps record: 5-3-2, 17 points, 4th place in Western Conference

Harvey's 2012 MLS season stats: 9GP/6GS, 618 minutes, 1 assist, 3 shots

Chandler Hoffman (Philadelphia Union; Years played at UCLA: 2009-11)
Hoffman saw action in his second game for the Union on Saturday, as Philadelphia fell 3-2 to New York. Hoffman came on as a substitute in the 77th minute for Keon Daniel and played 13 minutes without an offensive statistic.
Union record: 2-6-1, 7 points, 9th place in Eastern Conference

Chance Myers (Sporting Kansas City; Years played at UCLA: 2006-07)
Myers started and played all 90 minutes at right back in Sporting Kansas City's 2-1 loss to the Chicago Fire on Saturday. Myers recorded one shot in the match as Kansas City fell for the third straight match. He has started every match thus far for Sporting Kansas City.

Kyle Nakazawa (Los Angeles Galaxy; Years played at UCLA: 2006-09)
Kyle Nakazawa made his first ever start for the LA Galaxy in their 1-1 draw with the Montreal Impact on Saturday. Nakazawa started at midfielder and played 69 minutes before being subbed off for Pat Noonan in the second half. He recorded one shot in his 69 minutes of play.
Galaxy record: 3-5-2, 11 points, 7th place in Western Conference

Nakazawa's 2012 MLS season stats: 2GP/1GS, 87 minutes, 1 shot

Brian Perk (Los Angeles Galaxy; Years played at UCLA: 2006-09)
Perk made his first start of the year for the Galaxy and the second of his career in Los Angeles' 1-1 draw with Montreal on Saturday. Perk made one save on the evening and gave up one goal in his 90 minutes of play, with the lone goal coming on a one-on-one breakaway by the Impact.
Galaxy record: 3-5-2, 11 points, 7th place in Western Conference

Perk's 2012 MLS season stats: 1GP/1GS, 90 minutes, 1 save, 1 GA, 1.00 GAA

Matt Reis (New England Revolution; Years played at UCLA: 1994-97)
Matt Reis earned his second consecutive victory as New England defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-1 on Saturday. Reis made four saves in the victory after facing nine total shots, five of which were on goal. It was career win number 101 for Reis and he is currently third in all of MLS with 37 saves on the season.
Revolution record: 4-6, 12 points, 5th place in Eastern Conference

Reis's 2012 MLS season stats: 10GP/10GS, 900 minutes, 37 saves, 13 GA, 1.30 GAA

Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake; Years played at UCLA: 1997-99)
Nick Rimando played in only one of Real Salt Lake's two matches this week, earning his eighth win of the season in Salt Lake's 1-0 win over Seattle on Saturday. Rimando wasn't tested much, making no saves, but also facing no shots on goal as the Real Salt Lake defense put in a stellar effort. Rimando is currently fifth in the league with 36 saves and lowered his GAA to a league-best 1.00 (min. 10 games played).

Rimando's 2012 MLS season stats: 12GP/12GS, 1080 minutes, 36 saves, 12 GA, 1.00 GAA

Andy Rose (Seattle Sounders FC; Years played at UCLA: 2008-11)
Andy Rose continued to get playing time for Seattle, starting and playing all 90 minutes at defensive midfielder in the Sounders' 2-0 win over FC Dallas on Wednesday. Rose picked up the first assist of his young MLS career when he assisted on Freddy Montero's second goal of the night in the 71st minute. Defensively, Rose was a presence in the midfield as he helped Seattle earn their sixth shutout of the year. On Saturday against Real Salt Lake, he once again started at midfielder and played all 90 minutes as the Sounders fell 1-0 to Salt Lake. Rose put together another great performance though, and almost scored his first ever MLS goal in the 11th minute when he took a rebound off a corner kick and sent the ball just wide of the goal.

Rose's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/3GS, 241 minutes, 1 assist, 4 shots

Michael Stephens (Los Angeles Galaxy; Years played at UCLA: 2006-09)
Michael Stephens made his second start of the year and played 45 minutes in the Galaxy's 1-1 draw with the Montreal Impact on Saturday. Stephens was subbed off at halftime for Mike Magee and did not record a statistic in his 45 minutes of play.
Galaxy record: 3-5-2, 11 points, 7th place in Western Conference

Stephens' 2012 MLS season stats: 6GP/2GS, 203 minutes

Pete Vagenas (Chivas USA; Years played at UCLA: 1996-99)
Vagenas started and played 75 minutes at midfielder for Chivas USA in their 1-1 draw with San Jose on Saturday. Vagenas was subbed off for Blair Gavin in the 75th minute and recorded one shot in those 75 minutes of play.
