Swimming Downs Oregon State & Utah in Dual Meet Action

The Bruin swimming team hit the road this weekend and came away with two dual meet victories against conference teams Oregon State and Utah. They defeated Oregon State 178-83 and Utah 176-81 to improve to 4-2 (2-2 Pac-12) on the season with today's victories.

During the meet, the Bruins posted nine event wins including a sweep of the 100 butterfly, while Laurence Delisle and Yasi Jahanshahi led the team as double-event winners.

The 200 medley relay team of Emily Andelson, Jessica Khojasteh, Yasi Jahanshahi and Cynthia Fascella started the Bruins off in the win column as they placed first in a time of 1:44.20.

Lauren Baker then tacked on the second win of the day with her victory in the 1000 free (10:14.14, season-best). Monica Dornick was third with a season-best time of 10:21.01.

Delisle posted two events wins during the meet as she won the 200 free (1:50.68) and the 200 back (2:01.32). Jahanshahi won both the 100 (55.30) and 200 fly (2:01.02). She led a Bruin sweep in the 100 fly as Noelle Tarazona was second (56.36) and Stephanie Christofferson was third (56.64). Tarazona also posted a win on Saturday as she placed first in the 400 IM (4:23.21).

In the 50 free, Fascella notched a win with her time of 23.56. She was also second in the 100 free (50.52).

In the final event of the day, the 200 free relay, the Bruins swam as exhibition since they had already clinched victories over both Oregon State and Utah. The foursome of Kathryn Murphy, Jesse Bergman, Bianca Casciari and Fascella posted the fastest time of all competitors, swimming 1:36.07.

The Bruins will return home for two weeks of training before hosting conference foes Stanford (Jan. 27) and Cal (Jan. 28) in dual meets at the Spieker Aquatics Center.
