The No. 22 UCLA swimming and diving team fell to No. 1 Stanford on Friday afternoon in dual meet action. The Bruins (9-2, 3-2 Pac-10) suffered only their second loss of the season as Stanford won by a score of 169-131. During the meet, the Bruins posted 15 season-best marks, six event wins and two improved NCAA "B" cut times.
Yasi Jahanshahi was a double event winner in both fly events. She has not lost in either fly event during dual meet competition this season. Her 200 fly mark of 1:57.62 was a season-best and improved NCAA "B" cut time. Her 100 fly time was 53.77. The Bruins also swept the 200 fly event with Bianca Casciari placing second (2:00.54) and Stephanie Christofferson finishing third (2:01.09).
Sam Vanden Berge was first in the 1000 free with a season-best swim of 10:00.73, while Lauren Baker was second, also with a season-best swim (10:01.65). Anna Senko won the 200 back with a time of 1:59.06, while Brittany Beauchan won the 200 breast in a time of 2:16.18. She has yet to lose a dual meet 200 breast race this season.
Lauren Hall tallied the final event win for the Bruins during the meet as she won the 200 IM in a time of 2:00.77.
In diving action, Paulina Guzman led the way as she was second on one-meter (253.58) and third on three-meter (288.75).
The Bruins will continue their NorCal road trip on Saturday when they face off with No. 4 Cal. The Golden Bears upset No. 3 USC on Friday afternoon.
