The sixth-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team defeated Stanford Saturday night in four games at Burnham Pavilion.
The Bruins won 28-30, 30-23, 30-19, 30-22 in one hour and 48 minutes in front of 571 fans. The victory raised UCLA's overall record to 8-7 and evened their conference mark at 7-7. The Cardinal fell to 1-15, 1-10.
Seniors Steve Klosterman and Paul George combined for 30 kills for the Bruins. Klosterman led all players with 19 (.441) and George added 11 (.300). George led both teams with three aces. Sophomore Jamie Diefenbach led both teams with 10 block assists, a career best, as the Bruins out=blocked the Cardinal 17.0-5.0. Freshman setter Kevin Ker made his third start and recorded a season-high of 45 assists. He also scored five points on two kills, an ace and four block assists.
Standord's Matt Ceran led his team with 17 kills, followed by 11 from Garett Werner.
Next week the Bruins will host CS Northridge on Wed., Feb. 21 and UC Santa Barbara on Fri., Feb. 23. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m.
