LOS ANGELES - Right fielder Gabe Cohen belted a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday afternoon to lead the No. 1 UCLA baseball team past Oklahoma, 7-5, in the first game of a season-opening doubleheader at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Cohen's home run, his first of the season and the 11th of his career, brought home shortstop Brandon Crawford from first base - Crawford led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk.

First baseman Casey Haerther led the Bruins' offense, hitting 2-for-3 with one home run, one double and one RBI. Haerther reached base safely in three of his four at-bats.

Freshman Dan Klein (1-0) earned the victory in his collegiate debut. Oklahoma's Ryan Duke (0-1) suffered the loss in both team's season-opening contests.

UCLA took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added their second run in the second frame on a solo blast from Haerther.

The Sooners cut UCLA's lead in half when right fielder Casey Johnson lined a base hit to center field, sending home catcher J.T. Wise.

UCLA added three runs in the sixth inning to assume a 5-1 advantage. Left fielder Brady Dolan singled to center, scoring center fielder Justin Uribe. Second baseman Alden Carrithers brought home two runners with a two-out single through the right side.

Oklahoma responded in the eighth inning with four runs to tie the contest, 5-5. Shortstop Matt Harughty's double brought home two runners, and second baseman Mike Gosse tied the ballgame with a two-run home run to right.

Sophomore left-hander Gavin Brooks limited the Sooners to one run and one hit in five innings, striking out six batters in his first start of the season.

Game Notes: UCLA improved to 3-1 under head coach John Savage in season-opening ballgames...Brooks struck out the side in order in the top of the second inning, recording five strikeouts through the first three innings...sophomore Matt Drummond pitched one scoreless inning and notched one strikeout.
