Volleyball Hall of Fame

HOLYOKE, Mass. - Former Bruin and Olympian Holly McPeak will be one of six volleyball greats to be inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame on Friday night. McPeak joins Andy Banachowski as the only two members of the UCLA women's volleyball program to be enshrined in the Volleyball Hall of Fame.

McPeak played just one season in Westwood in 1990, but helped the Bruins to a 36-1 record and an NCAA Championship, the fifth of six national titles for UCLA. McPeak started in all 37 matches that season and had 1,601 assists (12.41 per game) and 337 digs (2.61).

She was named to the All-NCAA Tournament Team following the '90 championship run, also earning All-Pacific Region and All-Pacific-10 first-team honors.

A three-time beach volleyball Olympian (1996, 2000 and 2004), McPeak earned a bronze medal with former Bruin Elaine Youngs at the '04 Games in Athens, Greece. She holds 72 career beach titles, including 19 FIVB titles, two FIVB Grand Slam events triumphs and 53 domestic championships. In 2002, McPeak became the first woman worldwide to surpass the $1 million career earnings and retired in May 2009 with over $1.5 million in earnings.

In 1997, Banachowski became the first women's volleyball coach in history to be inducted into the National Volleyball Hall of Fame.
