Carda, Team USA Win ISF Junior Women's World Championship

CAPE TOWN, South Africa - UCLA freshman-to-be Ally Carda hit .500 at the plate with seven runs batted in, and went 2-1 with 23 strikeouts in 13 innings in the circle, as Team USA claimed the ISF Junior Women's World Championship Gold Medal.

After losing to Japan in the semifinals, the U.S. beat Chinese Taipei and exacted revenge on Japan to take the gold. Team USA finished the tournament with a record of 10-1. It was the second consecutive title for the Americans in this tournament.

Carda has 10 hits in 20 at-bats in 10 contests, scoring eight runs and posting three doubles and two stolen bases. She posted a .650 slugging percentage and a .545 on base percentage.

In the circle, Carda posted a 3.46 earned run average in three starts, limiting opposing hitters to a .204 batting average. Her best performance came on Dec. 9 when she tossed a no-hitter against China with 14 strikeouts.
