Schofield Qualifies for Platform Semifiinal at Spring Diving Nationals

April 19, 2007

Sophomore Tess Schofield finished 10th in the semifinal round of the platform event at the 2007 Spring Nationals in Maryland to move on to Saturday's final competition. Schofield tallied a score of 238.20 to move onto the next round, which takes place on Saturday.

"I am really proud of Tess," said dive coach Tom Stebbins. "She competed very well today. She is moving the way she did at the end of the year, and found her entry in the last two rounds. I think her momentum will carry her into Saturday's final in a great spot."

Sophomore Marisa Samaniego finished 16th (209.85) in the one-meter quarterfinal round, just missing a spot in the semifinal. She will compete in the 3M semifinal round on Friday.

"The physical work is all in," added Stebbins "If Marisa will just compete the way she knows how tomorrow, she should have a great contest."
