Los Angeles, Calif. - Seniors Andy Rose, Eder Arreola, Shawn Singh and Brian Rowe were all named as four of 52 college seniors invited to the 2012 Adidas MLS Combine, as announced by Major League Soccer today. The annual player combine will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from Jan. 6-10.
The initial player list was determined by a panel of Division I college coaches, representing all conferences, who nominated and voted for players in conjunction with MLS coaches. These players will be joined by Generation adidas players, international invitees, additional collegiate players from NCAA Division II and III schools, NAIA schools, and Division I alternates. The final player list of approximately 66 athletes, as well as additional Combine coaches and team assignments, will be announced at a later date.
Rose (Bristol, England/Wycliffe College) was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection this season and has started all 23 games for the Bruins. He has recorded two goals and three assists while constantly being the anchor of the midfield.
Arreola (Chino Hills, CA/Edison Academic Center) was a second-team all-conference selection and is tied for fifth on the team with 10 points (3 g, 4 a) while playing in 22 games. Singh (Bakersfield, CA/Garces Memorial HS) has been an anchor in defense for UCLA and has one goal and five assists this year. He has also played a key role in each of UCLA's eight consecutive shutouts dating back to October.
Brian Rowe (Eugene, OR/South Eugene HS) has had a stellar year for the Bruins, posting a single-season best 12 shutouts. Rowe also has a 0.70 GAA on the season and recorded a Pac-12 best 0.20 GAA in conference play, allowing just two goals to Pac-12 opponents. His 12 shutouts are the most by a Bruin goalie since Eric Reed had 12 back in 2005.
The Bruins will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels on Friday, Dec. 9 at 5:30 pm PT in the semifinals of the NCAA College Cup. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
