Sophomore pitcher Donna Kerr (San Diego, CA/Patrick Henry HS) of the UCLA softball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Apr. 27-May 3.
Kerr tossed a pair of one-hitters last weekend against Oregon and Oregon State, allowing only one unearned run and striking out 17 in 12 innings. On Friday, Kerr allowed only a fourth-inning single and a pair of walks, striking out eight in six innings to improve to 16-6 on the season. She struck out the side in the third and two more in the first, retiring the first 11 batters she faced. On Sunday, Kerr was masterful again, fanning nine and giving up just one hit and an unearned run. The run scored on a passed ball in the fourth, the same inning where she surrendered her only hit. She set down the first 10 batters she faced, striking out the side in the sixth and two in the fourth.
This is Kerr's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
