Tatum Souza is in fourth-place after day one of the Pac-12 Heptathlon Championship in Eugene, OR and is on track for another career high score in the seven-event competition.
Three weeks ago at the California Invite Heptathlon, Souza posted a first day score of 3204 points and then scored a career high of 5350 overall. The sophomore is again on track for another career high as she finished day one at the conference meet with a total of 3202 points.
She started off the day with a lifetime-best run in the 100m hurdles (14.09, 966 pts.) for the fourth-fastest time of the day. She then tied for ninth in the high jump (5-2.50/724 pts.). In the shot put, Souza recorded a season-best 39-5.75 for fourth overall and 663 points and then ended the day with a lifetime-best run in the 200m, placing sixth with a time of 25.42 (849 pts.).
Souza is just 14 points shy of third-place and will look to move up on Sunday with the final three events being contested - the long jump, javelin and 800m.
