LOS ANGELES - The No. 12 UCLA baseball team dropped an 8-7 decision to UC Davis in 11 innings at Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Right fielder Gabe Cohen led the Bruins (2-1) at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run and two walks.

In a game that featured three lead changes, UC Davis overcame a 7-5 deficit in the ninth inning and scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning to secure the victory and salvage the series after having lost to UCLA on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

UC Davis center fielder Kyle Mihalo led off the final inning with a double to the gap in left-center field, moved to third base on a pass ball and scored on a double to left field by first baseman Grant Hirneise.

Aggies' left-hander Dayne Quist (1-0) recorded the victory, allowing one hit and one walk in 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. UCLA right-hander Trevor Bauer (0-1) absorbed the loss despite a gritty relief effort, striking out six in 4.1 innings, allowing three runs and seven hits against the Aggies (1-2).

UC Davis was led at the plate by Mihaylo, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles and one run. Right fielder Ryan Scoma went 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs, and left fielder Daniel Cepin went 2-for-5 with one run.

UC Davis tied the contest in the top of the ninth, loading the bases with nobody out (two walks and one single). Scoma scored from third base on a sacrifice fly by Hirniese. With two outs and runners at first and second, pinch-hitter Tony Bongiovanni singled to center field, sending home pinch-runner Jeremy McChesney.

The Bruins captured the game's first lead, scoring two runs in the second inning. After UC Davis sliced the Bruins' margin in half, 2-1, with one run in the third, UCLA answered with an RBI single to left field by third baseman Casey Haerther.

UC Davis scored four runs in the fifth to assume a 5-3 advantage. Second baseman Scott Heylman doubled to left, sending home Cepin from first. Third baseman Ty Kelly doubled to left and scored on the next at-bat, a dropped fly ball to right fielder Gabe Cohen. After having reached on a walk and advanced two bases on the error, Scoma advanced home on a throwing error by second baseman Niko Gallego, who caught Mihalo in a pickle between first and second base.

UCLA cut the Aggies' lead in half with one run in the fifth. After reaching first base on a walk and advancing to second on a wild pitch, left fielder Justin Uribe scored on a single to center field by first baseman Cody Decker.

The Bruins assumed a 6-5 advantage with a two-run sixth inning and added one more run in the seventh.

UCLA returns to action at UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday. Game time at UCSB's Caesar Uyeseka Stadium is 2 p.m. The Bruins play UC Riverside at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
