Rowe, Thompson & 4x400m Relay Win Pac-10 Titles

Lindsay Rowe, Turquoise Thompson and the 4x400m relay team all won Pac-10 titles on the final day of the conference meet in Berkeley to highlight the UCLA women's track and field team. The Bruins finished sixth as a team, while Oregon won the team title.

Rowe won her first individual title in the 100m hurdles as the junior ran a lifetime-best of 13.24 to win. She becomes the sixth Bruin woman to win a Pac-10 crown in the high hurdles. In all, Bruins have tallied 14 Pac-10 wins in the event. The last time a Bruin won the 100m hurdles crown was in 2004 by Sheena Johnson. Rowe's time keeps her at No. 9 in school history and No. 15 in the NCAA.

Thompson, who is only a freshman, continues the Bruin legacy in the 400m hurdles as she won her first title in the event with a lifetime-best run of 56.92. She becomes the sixth Bruin in Pac-10 history to win a 400m hurdles crown. In all, UCLA women have tallied 12 conference titles in the event. Her time of 56.92 keeps her at No. 10 in school history, but moves her to eighth in the NCAA this season..

The 4x400m relay team of Joy Eaton, Thompson, Krishna Curry and Ashlea McLaughlin captured the conference crown with a season-best time of 3:34.82. That time ranks 18th in the NCAA this season. Today's win was the seventh conference title for the Bruins in the 4x400m relay.

McLaughlin also finished second in the open 400m with a time of 52.98. She also anchored the 4x100m relay to seventh-place (46.15).

In the pole vault, Tori Pena finished second with a clearance of 13-8.25, while Katy Viuf was fourth with an identical mark. Allison Koressel cleared a lifetime-best 12-6.25 to tie for 10th. In the triple jump, Ke'Nyia Richardson finished seventh overall with a mark of 40-5.
