Senior Glory Yang, junior Stephanie Kono, sophomores Tiffany Lua and Lee Lopez and freshman Ani Gulugian have each earned All-Pac-10 honors as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Kono, Lua and Lopez received first team honors while Yang and Gulugian were named to the second team.
This is the third straight first team all-conference selection for Kono dating back to her freshman year in 2009. This is also Yang's third all-conference selection after being named to the first team in her first two years and earning an honorable mention last year. Sophomore Tiffany Lua makes her second appearance on the all-conference team after receiving second-team accolades a year ago, while Lopez and Gulugian earned all-conference honors for the first time.
Kono led the Bruins in scoring average (72.5), rounds under par (13), top 20 finishes (8) and top 10 finishes (5) during the regular season. Meanwhile, Lopez recorded three top 10 finishes on the year including a win at the Bruin Wave Invitational back in March. Lua led the team with four top five finishes and recorded a 72.7 scoring average as well. In addition, she registered her first collegiate victory at the Landfall Tradition back in October and finished runner-up at the Pac-10 Championship last week.
In her final season as a Bruin, Yang recorded six top 20 finishes in eight tournaments and secured runner-up honors at the Bruin Wave Invitational behind Lopez. Gulugian had six top 20 finishes as well and tied for second on the team with seven rounds under par.
Pac-10 Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Newcomer/Freshman of the Year will not be announced until later.
The Bruins will begin NCAA postseason play on Thursday, May 5th at the Central Regional played at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, IN. UCLA has earned the top seed at the regional and will look to advance to the NCAA Championship for the 11th straight year under Coach Carrie Forsyth.
