San Diego, Calif. - UCLA freshmen Robin Anderson and Skylar Morton teamed together to win a pair of matches on Saturday to reach Sunday's semifinals at the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
Anderson and Morton began the day by upsetting top-seeded Alejandra Granillo and Khunpak Issara, 8-6 in the round of 16. They followed that up with an 8-3 victory over SDSU's Sierra and Roxanne Ellison. Anderson and Morton will face Jamie Pawid and Katarina Poljakova of Hawai'i in the semifinals on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Pawid and Poljakova defeated UCLA's McCall Jones and Pamela Montez, 9-7 in Saturday's quarterfinals.
UCLA concluded singles play at the ITA Regionals on Saturday, as Jones fell to USC's Sabrina Santamaria, 6-1, 7-5, and Montez was beaten 6-4, 7-6(4) by Arizona's Natasha Marks. Both of those losses came in the quarterfinals.
