Gelalich led the Bruins' offense in four games last week, going 8-for-15 (.533) with three runs, three RBI and two walks. The native of La Verne, Calif., went 3-for-5 in the Bruins' 9-3 victory over UC Irvine on April 24. Over the weekend, the Bruins dropped two of three Pac-12 ballgames to Stanford.
UCLA rebounded with a 2-1 victory at Long Beach State on Tuesday, May 1. Freshman left-hander Grant Watson secured his team-leading eighth victory by throwing six scoreless innings and limiting Long Beach State to two hits.
Gelalich, Plutko and the Bruins are back in action this weekend, hosting a three-game non-conference series against No. 13 Purdue beginning Saturday afternoon. The Bruins and Boilermakers will play a doubleheader on Saturday with games at 1 and 5 p.m.
Sunday's series finale at Jackie Robinson Stadium is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 16 and under). Children ages 13 and under who attend Sunday's game wearing their Little League jersey can earn free admission. In addition, coaches of Little Leaguers wearing their Little League jerseys will also be granted free admission (coach cannot be a high school or junior college student).
