Ted Slaughter and Jeremy Casebeer have signed National Letters of Intent to attend UCLA in the Fall, the athletic department announced this week.
Slaughter, a 6-8 quick hitter from Irvine Valley College, graduated from Corona del Mar High in 2005, and led IVC to the 2006 Pacific Coast Conference state championship where the Lasers defeated Long Beach City College in five games. In that match, Slaughter recorded 13 kills and four blocks. He was named to the all-tournament team.
During the season, he led IVC and the league with 92 blocks, setting a single season school record. Slaughter also earned IVC Scholar-Athlete honors in 2007 after making the Dean's List.
At Corona del Mar HS, he led the Sea Kings to the 2005 CIF championship, while earning all-league and Orange County All-Star honors.
Casebeer, a 6-5 outside hitter from Santa Barbara HS, led the Dons to the 2007 CIF championship match in which he recorded 17 kills. He recently earned 1st Team All-CIF honors. Weston Dunlap, Phillip Darin and Darwin Edwards, three other UCLA signees, also earned All-CIF acclaim.
Slaughter and Casebeer join Darin (Edison HS, Huntington Beach, CA), Dunlap (Newport Harbor HS, Newport Beach, CA), Edwards (Peninsula HS, Palos Verdes, CA), David Freitag (Pacific Lutheran HS, Torrance, CA), Marko Glisic (DuPage CC, Glen Ellyn, IL), Jack Polales (New Trier HS, Winnetka, IL) and Alex Scattareggia (Rancho Bernardo HS, San Diego, CA) in the Bruins' 2007 incoming class.
