WOODLAND, Calif. - Senior Priscilla Orozco has captured MPSF Player of the Week honors and freshman Samil Hill has been named the conference's Newcomer of the Week after the No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team won the Triton Invitational title on Sunday.
Orozco scored seven goals in four victories last weekend, while Hill registered 15 saves in two starts.
One of seven seniors on the 2011 team, Orozco leads UCLA with 26 goals and is tied for sixth in the MPSF in goals scored per game with a 2.00 average. The resident of nearby Commerce, Calif., has scored in each of the Bruins' 13 games this spring.
Hill has split duties at the goalkeeper position this season with junior Caitlin Dement. The native of Santa Barbara, Calif., recorded eight saves in UCLA's win against Hartwick on Saturday. She added seven saves in the Triton Invitational championship victory over Loyola Marymount on Sunday evening.
Hill has posted a 5.71 goals against average, totaling 48 saves in six games (five starts).
The Bruins enter this week with a 12-1 record and are preparing to face UC Irvine in a non-conference affair on Saturday, Feb. 19, at home. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Center.
