The UCLA men's and women's track and field team will play host to the Tennessee Volunteers and Washington State Cougars in a double dual at Drake Stadium on Saturday. Each team will be matched up head-to-head in a typical scored meet (5-3-1/5-0 relays). Last year, the Bruins hosted Tennessee with the men defeating the Vols 111-50 and the women just barely falling to the Lady Vols 82-81.
The men's team is 11-1 all-time against Tennessee and 6-0 against the Cougs. The women are 2-0 against Washington State and the series with the Vols is tied at 1-1.
The Bruin men hosted Texas, the pre-season No. 7 team, last weekend and won by a score of 85-77. The men have not lost in Drake Stadium since 2010.
Events get underway with the women's hammer at 10:00 am, while running events begin at 2:05 pm with the 4x100m relay. For a complete schedule of events, click here.
After only a few outdoor meets, many Bruins have posted some of the top marks in the NCAA. Dustin Fay (5000m, 4th) and Mike Woepse (pole vault, 1st) highlight the men's squad as they rank in the top 5 nationally. On the women's side, Allison Koressel ranks in the top 10 in the NCAA in the pole vault.
