Santa Clarita, CA -
The 3rd ranked UCLA women's golf team will co-host the second annual Bruin Wave Invitational in Santa Clarita, CA. The tournament will take place from Monday, Feb. 28th to Wednesday, Mar. 2nd and will be played at Robinson Ranch Golf Club.
First round action will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. PT on Monday and fans at home can follow live scoring at Golfstat.com.
Fifteen teams will battle for team and individual honors, including five from the Pac-10 (UCLA, Arizona, Oregon State, Washington State and Stanford) and three ranked in the top 25 (UCLA (3), Arizona (7) and Texas (25)).
In their last tournament, the Bruins took home third place at the Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, CA with a score of 887 (+35). The USC Trojans were the winners of the tournament, finishing two strokes ahead of Arizona State and three ahead of the Bruins. Cold and rainy conditions made the course difficult to play on as the lowest final round score was a 294 (+10), posted by Arizona State.
Individually, freshman Ani Gulugian and sophomore Tiffany Lua finished tied for third place at the tournament with a score of 220 (+7). Gulugian's second round 68 was the best round she's posted all year while her third place finish was also her best finish to date. Sophomore Lee Lopez finished tied for 7th at 221 (+8) while senior Glory Yang finished in a tie for 11th at 222 (+9). Rounding out the lineup were juniors Brianna Do and Stephanie Kono, who ended up tied for 16th at 224 (+11) and 42nd at 234 (+21) respectively.
Gulugian, Lopez, Lua, Kono and Yang will all be competing for the Bruins this week while Do will compete as an individual.
Last year, USC took the team title at the Bruin Wave Invitational with an overall score of 886 (+2). Pepperdine golfer Danielle Kang was the individual medalist as she posted an overall score of 208 (-8).
