Swimmers Post Fast Times On Day 2 Of Arena Invitational

The UCLA swim team had a very successful day of competition on day two of the Arena Invitational in Long Beach as the Bruins posted 22 season-best marks and four improved NCAA "B" cut times on Friday.

The 200 medley relay team of Emily Andelson, Brittany Beauchan, Yasi Jahanshahi and Kathryn Murphy improved on their season-best and NCAA "B" cut time as they swam 1:42.20 to finish fifth overall.

Jahanshahi then swam a season-best and improved "B" cut time of 53.73 in the 100 fly to place sixth in the championship final. Stephanie Christofferson finished 15th in the consol final with a time of 55.73.

In the 200 free, Kathryn Murphy swam a season-best 1:51.42 as she finished 28th overall.

Brittany Beauchan dropped her season-best and NCAA "B" cut time in the 100 breast to 1:01.64 as she placed fifth in the championship final. Also in the 100 breast, Kelsey Louden posted a season-best and NCAA "B" time of 1:02.75 to finish 17th in the consol final. Emily Weir also swam a season-best in the consol final, finishing 18th overall with a time of 1:03.33. In the non-scoring final, Paige Treleven touched 26th with a season-best swim of 1:04.41.

In the 100 back, Andelson led the way with her season-best swim in the consol final, placing 10th overall (55.42). In the bonus final, Anna Senko was 18th with a season-best time of 55.75, Andrea Reigel was 22nd (56.87) and Jesse Bergman was 23rd (57.03). Jahanshahi was 26th in the non-scoring final with a time of 56.35.

The foursome of Sam Vanden Berge, Cynthia Fascella, Lauren Baker and Rachel Godfed capped off the day with a ninth-place swim of 7:30.59.

Competition concludes on Saturday with the prelims and finals of 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay.
