UCLA Men's Water Polo Finalizes Standout Recruiting Class

April 15, 2009

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's water polo program has signed nine standout student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, as announced this week by head coach Adam Krikorian. Featuring eight current high school seniors and one junior college player, the Bruins' recruiting class will enroll at UCLA in September 2009.

"We are thrilled to welcome these driven young men to the Bruin family," Krikorian said. "Their athletic ability combined with their game intelligence and strong work ethic are exactly what we are looking for at UCLA."

UCLA's recruiting class features the CIF Southern Section's Division I and Division II Players of the Year (Griffin White and Josh Samuels, respectively), the California Junior College Player of the Year (Emilio Vieira), one first-team All-Illinois honoree (Christopher Wendt) and five first-team All-CIF selections (Bret Lathrope, Clayton McFadden, Paul Pickell, Scott Snyder and James Tyrrell).

"These nine student-athletes, combined with several others slotted to attend next fall, make this the best class we have had in over a decade," Krikorian continued. "I would like to thank my staff and the current members of our team for doing a phenomenal job in this process. Everyone at UCLA is excited to see what this program can do in the coming years."
