The 15th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team (5-4) has just one match this week, hosting No. 64 Loyola Marymount (3-1) at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free to all regular-season matches at the LATC. In addition, fans unable to attend the match can follow online by clicking HERE
New rankings were released on Wednesday, and the Bruins remained at No. 15 nationally. Individual rankings were also released for the first time in more than a month. Junior Riza Zalameda is the highest-ranked Bruin, checking in at No. 43. She is followed by freshman Yasmin Schnack at No. 62 and Tracy Lin at No. 67. In doubles, Elizabeth Lumpkin and Stephanie Wetmore are ranked No. 48.
Although the Bruins have already faced two Pac-10 teams (Stanford and Cal), UCLA doesn't open up Pac-10 Conference action until next week when they head north to face Washington and Washington State. Since it will mark the only meetings with those two teams this season, the results will count in the final Pac-10 standings. Otherwise, it's usually the second meeting of the season between conference teams that counts in the Pac-10 race.
