San Diego, Calif. - UCLA's Yasmin Schnack and Riza Zalameda won their quarterfinal doubles match to advance to the semifinals of the Wilson/ITA West Regionals on Saturday at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
Schnack and Zalameda, the tournament's top-seeded team, defeated San Diego State's Holly Bagshaw/Eliska Krausova, 8-1. Next up is a meeting with Arizona State's Laila Abdala/Nadia Abdala on Sunday.
Unfortunately, the Bruins had a pair of doubles teams lose in the quarterfinals on Saturday, as Tracy Lin and Andrea Remynse were beaten by UNLV's Elena Gantcheva/Kristina Nedeltcheva, 8-4. Ashley Joelson and Alex McGoodwin were downed by Abdala/Abdala of ASU, 8-5.
In singles, Remynse and Zalameda were ousted in the quarterfinals. Remynse fell to Gantcheva, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4, while Zalameda had to withdraw from her match with USC's Amanda Fink due to injury.
