Senior Katie Nelson capped off her Pac-10 career with a repeat win in the 1650 Freestyle on the final day of the Pac-10 Swimming Championships. Nelson, who won the event last year, won again on Saturday night in Long Beach, CA, swimming an NCAA automatic time of 16:09.98. As a team, the Bruins finished fourth overall with 1024.5 points, while Arizona won the Pac-10 title for the second consecutive season with a total of 1481 points.
Senior Katie Arnold, swimming in the A Consolation of the 200 Backstroke, just missed her lifetime-best as she swam 1:56.93 for ninth-place overall. That time was an automatic NCAA qualifier and would have placed second had she been in the top final. Sophomores Madeleine Stanton (2:00.51) and Isabell Fischer (2:00.79), also in the A Console, finished 14th and 15th, respectively, as both swam NCAA "B" qualifiers.
Sophomore Nicolette Teo swam a lifetime-best to win the A Consolation of the 200 Breast, notching an NCAA "B" qualifying time of 2:14.59. Senior Jeana Fuccillo (2:16.70) and junior Chiemi Yamamoto (2:16.92) also swam "B" qualifiers, finishing 10th and 12th overall.
Senior Isabel Miesner won the A Consolation of the 200 Fly, swimming an NCAA "B" qualifier and lifetime-best 2:01.08. Freshman Hope Thurman finished 16th in a time of 2:04.51. In the B Consolation, junior Shannon Hackett finished 19th with an NCAA "B" time of 2:02.30, while senior Imagane was 23rd in 2:04.44.
Also in the 1650 Freestyle, Imagane finished 14th with an NCAA "B" time of 16:44.27.
In the final swim event of the night, the 400 Freestyle Relay, the Bruin team of freshman Ashley Anlauf, senior Luisa Los-Santos, sophomore Kristen Fischer and Thurman finished ninth overall in a time of 3:30.20.
Platform diving points were also added in, as Tess Schofield's win helped solidify a fourth-place finish for the Bruins.
