A small group of jumpers and vaulters will travel to Flagstaff, AZ for the Northern Arizona Elite meet on Saturday as the rest of the team will rest up for the MPSF Championships.
The Bruins earned their first national ranking of the indoor season this week, moving into Trackwire's top-25 at the No. 19 spot. The move into the top-25 was achieved after several strong performances last weekend.
Sophomore Allie Bohannon improved on her lifetime-best and NCAA qualifier in the mile (4:41.42), while junior Keneisha Creary moved her best up to 5-11.25 in the high jump. Both are just shy of automatic qualifiers in their respective events.
Junior Ingrid Kantola also helped catapult UCLA into the rankings with her lifetime-best vault and NCAA qualifying mark of 13-2.50 last weekend, while the 4x400m relay and triple jumper Renee Williams also picked up an NCAA qualifier in their respective events.
It will be the last meet before the MPSF Indoor Championships, which are held Febraury 23-24 in Seattle, WA. These two meets, NAU Elite and MPSF's, are the last opportunity for the Bruins to qualify athletes for the NCAA Championships, held in Fayetteville, AR March 9-10.
