Three UCLA golfers advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks Thursday after two rounds of match play competition at the Bandon Dunes Old MacDonald Course.

Juniors Brianna Do and Stephanie Kono and sophomore Tiffany Lua each advanced to the Round of 8 match play competition. Do won 1-up against defending champion Emily Tubert. Tubert was 2-up at the turn, but lost her lead when Do birdied the 14th, made par at the 15th and halved the final three holes.

Kono defeated Catherine Dolan of Ballwin, MO, 2 & 1. The three-time UCLA All-American was 3-up through 14 holes when Dolan won the 15th with a birdie, but Kono managed to halve the 16th and 17th to win the match.

Kono and Do will meet Friday for the second straight year at the WAPL. In last year's match, Do won 3 & 2.

Finally, sophomore Tiffany Lua beat Lauren Cate of St. Augustine, FL, 1-up. This match was all-square through 15 holes before Lua won the 16th with a par and halved the final two holes to secure the victory.

Earlier this week five UCLA players advanced to match play, but sophomore Lee Lopez and freshman Ani Gulugian were ousted in the first round of match play.
