HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Senior Scott Davidson and juniors Ben Hohl and Jacob Murphy have been selected to play for the USA National Men's Water Polo Team in Europe from Feb. 17-26. The three Bruins will compete with Team USA in Germany before playing in the Volvo Cup in Hungary from Feb. 24-26.
The USA National Team will face Canada, Hungary and Australia on consecutive evenings in the Volvo Cup. Team USA will play Canada on Wednesday, Feb. 24 (8:30 p.m. local time) before facing Hungary on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. and Australia on Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.
Davidson concluded his career at UCLA in 2009 by earning MPSF Player of the Year honors, becoming the first Bruin to secure the conference honor since 2000 (Sean Kern). A first-team All-America selection last season, Davidson concluded his senior campaign with 47 goals, 27 steals and 16 blocks. His career total of 152 goals ranks fifth on UCLA's all-time scoring list.
Hohl secured second-team All-America recognition as a junior in 2009, finishing second on the UCLA squad with 40 goals. He registered a 4.0 grade-point average in the 2009 Fall Quarter before earning All-MPSF Academic Team honors for the second straight season. Hohl will enter his senior season having scored 100 goals and registered 47 assists and 45 steals in 82 career contests.
Murphy completed his junior campaign scoring 17 goals on 41 attempts last fall. Following the season, he was named to the MPSF All-Academic Team for the third consecutive year. Murphy, who played for Team USA at the 2009 World University Games, will enter his senior season having totaled 47 goals in 67 career matches.
