UCLA Sweeps Long Beach State in SAC Tournament Opener

UCLA swept Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge beat UC Santa Barbara Friday afternoon in the first round of the SAC Tournament at UCLA.

The Bruins won 30-23, 30-27, 30-21 before a packed crowd in the Student Activities Center.

Sophomore Garrett Muagututia led the Bruins, who hit .310 as a team, with 12 kills (.410), followed by Dylan Bowermaster, who added nine kills and hit .500. Senior Tony Ker led the team with seven digs and Jeff Woodley and Wes Dunlap each recorded three blocks.

Paul Lotman led the 49ers with 10 kills.

CS Northridge won 30-22, 30-28, 26-30, 30-23 and senior Isaac Kneubuhl led the Matadors with 20 kills. Eric Vance added 19 kills.
