LOS ANGELES - Junior Priscilla Orozco scored a game-high four goals to lead the No. 4 UCLA women's water polo team registered an 8-5 victory at No. 13 UC Irvine in a non-conference match at Anteater Aquatics Complex on Thursday evening.
Orozco netted four goals for the second time this season. The junior attacker from Commerce, Calif., also recorded four goals in UCLA's 10-7 victory over Michigan (Jan. 24) at the Michigan Invitational.
The vistiting Bruins led UC Irvine (7-10) from the start, securing a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period. UCLA outscored the Anteaters in the second frame, 3-2, to own a 5-2 halftime cushion.
UC Irvine clipped the Bruins' advantage to 7-5 after three quarters. Priscilla Orozco's fourth goal of the evening in the final frame helped UCLA record the 8-5 victory.
Anteater senior Kat Plummer led UC Irvine with two goals.
UCLA sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Dement finished with 11 saves. UC Irvine's Morgan Vickers netted seven saves in the cage for the Anteaters.
The Bruins return to the pool against No. 6 Arizona State on Saturday, March 13. Game time at UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Center is 1 p.m.
