Anderson Reaches Quarterfinals in Las Vegas

Las Vegas - Freshman women's tennis player Robin Anderson won a pair of matches to move into the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles at the 2012 Freeman Memorial Championships in Las Vegas on Friday.

After receiving a bye in the first round, Anderson, the tournament's No. 2 seeded singles player, posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over USC's Kaitlyn Christian in the second round. Awaiting Anderson in the quarterfinals is Stanford's Stacey Tan. The two players are scheduled to square off on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Anderson also moved into the quarterfinals in doubles, as she and teammate Skylar Morton notched a 9-8(3) win over ASU's Leighann Sahugan and Nicole Smith in Friday's opening round. UCLA's Courtney Dolehide and Pamela Montez also reached the quarterfinals, downing Oregon's Sofia Hager/Patricia Skowronski, 8-3.

The Bruins also have three players in the semifinals of the Flight-II singles draw, as freshmen Morton, Kaitlin Ray and Chanelle Van Nguyen all posted wins on Friday.
