Freshman forward Kylie McCarthy (Rancho Santa Fe, CA/Torrey Pines HS) of the UCLA women's soccer team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 7-13.
McCarthy came off the bench to score the game-winning goal to help the second-seeded UCLA women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over New Mexico in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament last Saturday at Drake Stadium. McCarthy broke open a scoreless tie in the 65th minute when she finished off a close-range shot following a mishandled ball by the New Mexico goalkeeper. It marked McCarthy's fourth goal of the season and helped UCLA reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the 15th straight season.
This is McCarthy's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
